DIC Strain Monitoring during Fatigue of Cold-Formed High Strength Steel

Owing to the progressive use of cold-formed high strength steel (HSS) for transportation applications, a characterisation fatigue behaviour HSS has become focal point material scientists and design engineers. To mimic components, specimen was adopted from previous research that features multiple bent sections. The geometry obtained by consecutive bending operations at room temperature. When subsequent tensile cyclic loading is applied specimen, localised damage forming stress concentrations cause crack initiation on inside area. investigate effect cold-forming experimentally, evolution strain, displacement or stiffness can be monitored during testing. current paper presents an experimental framework investigating strain fields fatigue. then linked with characteristic mechanisms, such as growth.
